Church: 911

11.20.05

Today at the end of our Sunday worship at the Drakes’ house, David had to call 911 for a domestic disturbance across the street. I don’t really know what was going on except that it involved a guy throwing down a metal ladder, some other guy getting upset about a tow truck and a car, and the 2 guys yelling obscenities at each other at the top of their lungs. Three cop cars showed up in a matter of minutes. Oh, the excitement. I never thought it would happen in their neighborhood!

” Air Stagnation Advisory”

11.20.05

Strangely enough, there is a “air stagnation advisory” in the area between the Cascades and Olympics. This means, according to the weather channel website corecast for 98144:

STRONG HIGH PRESSURE WILL REMAIN OVER THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST FOR THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS…TRAPPING COLDER AIR NEAR THE SURFACE UNDER WARMER AIR ALOFT. LIGHT SURFACE WINDS WILL ACCOMPANY THE TEMPERATURE INVERSION…ALLOWING POLLUTANTS SUCH AS WOOD SMOKE… AUTO EXHAUST…AND INDUSTRIAL EMISSIONS TO DEGRADE AIR QUALITY OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS.

Great.

It’s been foggy for a couple of days now….it’s supposed to last until Thanksgiving. I will be thankful for air I can breathe! :)

Justin, Andrea, Aaron, Marion, and I went to see the newest Harry Potter Movie downtown at the Cinerama on Saturday. It showed a definite swing toward the mature audience just because it was more serious. It’s hard to cram so much action and so many pages into a 2 hour movie, but they did it….I’m really looking forward to Narnia on December 9. I told Justin and Marion that I wanted to be Aslan when I grow up!!

Cheers, and Have a Happy Thanksgiving, everyone.

On my mind…

11.12.05

Things I’ve been thinking about:
It’s OK to not over-commit
Race/White Privilege/Environmental Justice
Trying to be content in my womanhood as God made me (I’m reading Captivatingright now)
It’s very cool to get things repaired (Jewelry, shoes, etc.) rather than to throw them away

Fire Drama

11.10.05

Our next-door neighbor’s house burned today–it’s just a shell of iron and brick now. Our house has broken windows, an ubiquitous smoke smell, and firemen footprints thoroughout the house. You never know what life will throw your way. Yay for house insurance. More later
