Justin and I are about to leave for the Intiman to see Native Son. I love dates that are pre-planned because that generally means we paid for them months ago. I’ll let you know how the show goes.
One perk of being a teacher is that I have today off (so do lots of other people, I know…) and we found out that educators FINALLY get the corporate rate at 24 Hour Fitness–only $35 a month and no sign-up fee. They’re open, well, all the time, unlike our current, local, across-the-street fitness center, which closes at 8:30, opens at 10 on Saturdays, and is only open for three hours on Sunday. we’l probably sign up in Dec. or January (I hope).
I shouldn’t mention the downer of being an educator. By that I mean I have a stack of biology notebooks 3 feet high to correct and return by Monday, and a half-foot stack of senior project research paper assignments submitted to me this week that needs to be graded before next Friday. *Sigh.*
I finished my first really cool hat this week! I knit a “Head Hugger” knit 2, purl 2 ribbed red hat the last 2 weeks and finished it. I wore it all day today with a “hipster” tee shirt with a long-sleeved one underneath. I didn’t mean to look so much like a sk8erboi. Hee. Next I shall try a cabled hat, some socks, or some mittens, whatever my budget allows.
It has rained over 6.61 inches in 10 days. Let’s start on that Ark, ’cause it’s still raining today….and it is supposed to for the next 10 days.
I’ve been eating lots of sweets lately, and candy corn is one of the sweets that has topped my list this month. My kids gave me free candy the week of Halloween (sour gummi worms, snickers, almond joys, etc.) and the parties and meetings that happened that week had lots of candy. It just makes me feel bad to eat so many sweets. I hereby denounce all candy corn until next September.
Here’s to eating more wholesome foods until Thanksgiving.
Here, veggie, veggie, veggie :).
I voted this weekend. Voting is very difficult, and one should not procrastinate when attempting to thoughfully approach a ballot. One should also NOT listen to the stupid TV and radio ads about candidates and initiatives, as they are irrational and slanted beyond belief.
I’m glad to have voted, but I often wonder if anyone can truly trust any candidate to deliver what is best for the people.
Apparently we have a Pineapple Express coming through, which means warmer than average weather and lots of rain. LOTS of rain. And flooding, and mudslides…Sometimes I wish we were getting snow instead.
Dear Sun,
I will see you in May.
Your friend,
Amy
